gym report 190109

Back to the grind after 4 weeks of slacking and feasting. Momentum went outta the window after Tokyo trip and just couldn’t shake off that sweet tooth after I got back.
Tokyo Nest Hunt Continues…

i’ve been busy nest hunting again, but this time, armed with Subway/JR maps and the fantastico Google Map to gauge distances from the school. i’m glad there are many gorgeous spaces within budget, and within travelling distance. kinda spoiled for choice really. how exciting! here are a couple i’ve bookmarked.
i also found out that I can walk to my school from Oakwood Shinjuku. should i decide to put up at Fraser Place Shinjuku (their premier rooms are gorgeous but super pricey so most probably not) i can walk to school too as it’s just along Okubo Dori. yipeeee! maybe i can buy a bicycle and ride to school. can’t wait to be a full time student again.
手紙~拝啓 十五の君へ~
i watched Kouhaku last night and there were only a couple of performances which stood out. the one which touched me most was “Tegami Haikei Jugo no Kimi e” by Angela Aki. in my opinion, this one even trumps the hit which made her career – “Sakura Iro”. the song assumes an interesting premise – a letter written to oneself from the future, an adult to a 15 year old. it’s a beautiful song of encouragement. how many hearts have this song touched? in moments of despair, this is the type of song which will lend strength through heartache and gallons of tears shed.
“拝啓 この手紙を読んでいるあなたが
幸せなことを願います”
the song has quickly become an anthem of students throughout Japan. i’ve found a beautiful and heatfelt delivery of the song by a group of University students. the harmonising is great, especially during the crescendo of the song.
ものすごく上手です。
finally, i’ll leave you with a live performance from Angela Aki herself. the high school girls were all reduced to tears. can music move mountains? i think so.
陈佳明 is pure genius. best TV theme song in decades.
Olivia Ong’s great and i’ve been a fan since the rest of the world discovered her (I got her Mirai CD ok! actually my brother does. haha… her Mirai stuff was crappy, and even her two J-poppy albums were trashy… it wasn’t until her venture into Bossanova that got me) seeing her in person at Judy Ongg’s concert and lately on TV – hmm… i think she is seriously lacking in X factor. but what i wanted to say was this song has Mavis Hee written all over it. i would love to hear her take of this same song. i miss her big time.
i can’t find a full and quality version of the song. MediaCorp should milk Singaporeans dry by releasing an OST. sure best-seller cos everyone’s clamouring for the song. wonder if Olivia’s bringing out a full Mandarin album.
I’ve Got A Rolly!!

one of the toys i got off this Tokyo trip was a Rolly which was just launched in Japan. when Sony first released the teaser video and image of the object, there were many wild guesses what it was. turns out it’s a Dancing Audio Player! i didn’t think much of it until i saw one in action at the airport just before we boarded our flight. so cute i had to get one!!
i haven’t got the time to play with it, but check out this video!!
the “fun” part is you can write Dance Motion files for every different song, basically choreograph dance steps for it. and there’s a Rolly community where you share your Dance files and you can download them for your Rolly.
check out this Hung Up one. very disco-ey!
Suemitsu & the Suemith – Allegro Cantabile
hey folks! i’m back from Tokyo!! each time i travel, i love to discover new music to bring back!! i’m eager to share my new discovery.
digging スエミツ アンド ザ スエミス’s rock piano sound currently. a Japanese solo project headed by Suemitsu Atsushi (末光篤) who composes, writes, and performs both on the piano and vocals with so much finesse. what a sexy talent! check out the video – they totally trashed the white piano. beautiful.
